BLIP

Tracking device

The Unifly BLIP device (Broadcast Location & Identification Platform) is a high-quality device that combines remote identification and real-time tracking.

High-quality tracking device

The BLIP sends highly accurate tracking data securely and with minimal delay to the Operator monitoring module over the LTE 4G mobile network. Once a flight has started, the BLIP feeds the data once per second to the Unifly cloud services and broadcasts the same data at the same rate over Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), in compliance with EU regulations. The data set collected and transmitted by the BLIP includes the identification of the drone, of the BLIP and the drone operator/pilot and a set of flight parameters including the current position and altitude of the drone. The BLIP device operates in a highly autonomous fashion. It has a built-in power source and is equipped with sensors for position, altitude, temperature, pressure, speed, and direction. Simply attach a BLIP to a drone and it is ready for use. When in standby mode, the device is activated automatically as soon as movement is detected.

Key features

High-precision GNSS module
GPS, Galileo, Glonass, BeiDou.

Key data collecting and broadcasting
3D location, take-off position, (pressure) altitude, heading, speed, serial number (ANSI/CTA-2063 Physical Serial Number format), and the operator’s registration ID.

Multiple networks used
Multi-band cellular (LTE Cat 1) and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) communication.

Long range
Secure pilot identification within a range of up to 200 meters (650 ft).

Flight data sync
To maintain tracking data after an LTE disconnect, flight data is cached and synchronized as soon as connectivity is restored.

Automatic functions
Wake-up via accelerometer/BLE, end-of-flight autostop feature sets the device back to idle mode.
